Dear Esteemed Youth, Social Media Personalities, Content Creators, Opinion Leaders and Members of the Igala Nation Worldwide,
I write to you today with a mixture of immense pride and profound concern. We are living through a historic moment, yet our collective responses to critical issues risk undermining the sanctity of the milestones we seek to celebrate.
Let us be honest with ourselves: the toxic intersection of unbridled social media enthusiasm and parochial tribal boosterism has become a severe liability. Across digital platforms, a dangerous narrative is taking root one that insidiously frames high national office not as an instrument of patriotic duty, but as a regional trophy or a personal pipeline for sectional spoils. This sort of chest-thumping is not just embarrassing; it is dangerous.
National security leadership is not a localised chieftaincy title. It is a rigorous, demanding constitutional responsibility that belongs to the entirety of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. When bloggers, content creators, and self-appointed online vuvuzelas rush to claim every institutional intervention, project, or development as a direct ethnic dividend, they are doing a grave disservice to the office-holder. You are not strengthening his hands by turning the heavy national burden into a tribal spectacle; you are putting a target on his back. Rather, we are handing ammunition to political detractors and mischief-makers who are all too eager to weaponise perceptions against him.
There is a profound difference between genuine celebration and reckless sycophancy.
The Ukomu Igala Organisation Worldwide categorically rejects the toxic notion that our people are entitled to special operational preferences, backchannel favours, or parochial considerations. Those peddling these speculative narratives on social media must understand that true patriotism requires discretion, emotional intelligence, and respect for institutional boundaries. A public servant operating at the highest levels of national security cannot and should not pander to the emotional appetite of a single ethnic constituency. His primary accountability is to the Nigerian State, the Constitution, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and not to some online hype squads.
Our joy over this milestone must be measured, quiet, and dignified. We owe a debt of gratitude to Almighty God and to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for recognising Igala capability and placing trust in one of our own. But our gratitude must not morph into a liability.
We urgently call on our traditional rulers, community leaders, elders, and youth vanguard to rein in the digital noise. Silence and maturity are far more powerful than viral posts and sensational headlines. Let us support our son through steadfast prayers, institutional respect, and unblemished personal conduct; allowing his professional track record to speak for itself.
Let us stop trading our dignity for viral engagement.
Let us protect our heritage with wisdom.
Thank you for your understanding, restraint, and cooperation.
Signed,
Maj Gen James Alilu Ataguba (Rtd) Ph.D
National Leader, Ukomu Igala Worldwide
